Singapore- Coffee

I am staying with my nephew Reid and his wife, Susanna while in Singapore.  They don't drink coffee, so every morning I trek off to hunt down my daily cuppa.  The Hougang Mall 1 is the closest so I go to their hawker center/food court for my coffee.  I always take it back to Reid's flat so I get "1 take away coffee with milk", AKA "white coffee".  There seem to be no creamers here, if you want milk or creme, they do it for you and call it white coffee, actually they don't call it coffee, here it is kopi.

The days that my sister wants coffee I go to McDonald's, the local stuff is too strong for her.  They have regular looking little coffee cup sized plastic bags for take away.

When I go to local coffee booth, Kopitiam, this is the "take away" holder they use. A cute little sling looking thing  that is specially made to carry cups. Are they trying to be greener and not use a bag?

My Kopitiam booth also sells soft boiled eggs.  Wow, I haven't seen these since I was 8 years old and my grand mother made them for me!  I never did care for them much.  I was eating dinner a few nights ago when a man sat down next to me with two eggs, broke them open and put them in a bowl.  I thought OMG, those are soft boiled eggs and he is eating them for dinner.  It wasn't until the next morning I realized that my coffee booth sold them.

what I call "my entrance".

My coffee booth.  See that puff of stream on the left side?
They also sell Dim Sum 24/7.  I tried to buy some dim sum for breakfast a few days ago, but what they had didn't seem like breakfast food to me, even though Chinese people were lining up.

I bought some coffee this afternoon but drank it there.  Yes I spilled some on the way to find a table.  Good thing they gave
me a saucer!

Singapore- Marina Bay Sands Hotel and Casino

A fun fact- in the movie Independence Day-Resurgence the resort is shown as being blown up by space aliens.

Singapore China Town

Stamford Raffles, one of the original founders of modern Singapore formed a urban plan in 1822 called the Jackson plan.  The plan was control development and to give each ethnic group their own area of the town to live. The chinese had already began to congregate in the area that became China Town.  Fast forward to 2016.  Chinese comprise 74% of the population (with 13% Malay, 9% Indian and 4% "other")

As a result,  China town has become more or less a historic/tourist shopping center.

My Traveling companions Frances, my sister and Susanna my niece.  Franes' main shopping goal was to buy T-shirts that showed all of the activities you can do in Singapore that you can be fined for.  Mission accomplished.  I found then at the far end on one of the smaller alleys.  I bought a few for gifts too!

The restaurant where we ate lunch

It was a seafood restaurant and depending on what you ordered you could be in introduced to your lunch before preparation.

Frances and Susanna enjoying their lunch!

The Hindu temple Sri Mariamman temple borders on China Town.  It was founded in 1827.  I didn't go inside this temple because I was too lazy to take off my shoes and my traveling companions were already off down the alley shopping .

We are back to the bus stop and back onto our double decker hippo tour bus

National Museum of Singapore

The National Museum was founded in 1843.  It has a very long history
and is housed in a historic building.https https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Museum_of_Singapore

E\When expanded the government did a good job incorporating the old building into the new, just like they did with the Singapore art museum. (See my previous pictures of SAM)
